The anchor of Kpoko FM 100.5’s Pidgin English Environmental Awareness Programme, Joy Alamu, has been nominated for a prestigious award by Environment Outreach Magazine. The award, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to environmental awareness and sustainability, will be presented at the magazine’s 15th Anniversary and Lecture in Lagos on Thursday, December 4.
The event, themed “Enhancing Nigeria’s National Parks and Biodiversity Conservation: A Wake-Up Call,” will take place at the Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos, and will feature a lecture by the Conservator General of the country. Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadir Olufemi Hamzat, is expected to attend the ceremony.
According to Chief Noble Akenge, the Egegba of Yenogoa and publisher of Environment Outreach Magazine, Joy Alamu’s award is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and commitment to creating awareness of environmental issues and mobilizing support for government environmental preservation projects and programs.
In a statement, Joy Alamu expressed her gratitude to Environment Outreach Magazine for the recognition, saying, “This award is a refreshing tonic and a call for more commitment and diligence in our service to the people and the environment. We are pleased that people have been listening to our programme and choose to forward our effort for this recognition.”
The Environmental Awareness Programme, which has been on air since 2014, is directed and produced by Warri-based journalist, Linus Chima.
